Valentine's Day Lunch Idea #1

I will be the first person to admit that I don't LOVE holidays. I can't even pinpoint why, I just don't love them.

However, I absolutely LOVE creating holiday themed lunches for my kids. In fact, I think I get more enjoyment out of my finished product than my kids do. I’m totally “one of those moms”.

The week of the holiday, I usually do a daily lunch with the theme leading up to the day. Since Valentine’s day is on a Wednesday this year, that means 3 Valentine’s lunches. I’m going to be doing a separate post for each one so keep checking back.

The first lunch that I'm going to share with you is a simple one.
For this one I used:

  • 2 pieces of bread
  • Cream Cheese
  • Strawberry Jam
  • Sprinkles
  • An apple
  • A red pepper
  • Small heart shaped cookie cutter
  • Medium heart shaped cookie cutter

To start, use the medium heart shaped cookie cutter to cut a heart out of 1 slice of the bread.

Spread jam on the cut out piece of bread and cream cheese on the uncut slice.

Put the two slices together and add sprinkles into the cut out part of the sandwich. That will give you a sprinkle heart.

Alternately, you could omit the sprinkles and leave it with a white cream cheese heart

Next up, take an apple and slice it horizontally into thin slices.

Once that's done, take your small heart cookie cutter and cut the core out with it. Now you have cute little heart filled apple slices.

Finally, take your red pepper and cut it along the lines.

I used a 3 section pepper which basically already looked like 3 hearts so this was the easiest part of the lunch.

Finally, I added some snacks for them to enjoy. A chocolate in with their sandwich, 2 mini sugar donuts with heart gummies on top, a cheese string, yogurt tube, and banana with a message.

If you try making this, I'd love to see it!
