My best friend Kelsey from Kelsey Diane Blog has been doing Ann Marie Heasley's
(White House Black Shutters) 40 Bags in 40 Days decluttering challenge for about a week now. She's asked many people to do it along with her and has received a great response. She has the right idea about doing it now when the weather is still cold and gloomy (here in Canada anyway), instead of the typical "spring cleaning" when the weather is nicer and you want to be enjoying the outdoors. However, when she asked me if I wanted to do it, it was a flat-out NOPE from me.
I've had so many other things going on over here (hello never ending office to bedroom reno) that I have just been too overwhelmed to think about doing a declutter challenge. The more I have been thinking about it, I believe the main reason for my insane stress right now is the huge mess that my house is in.
Having 4 little kids, the "stuff" seems never ending. There is always something in every corner and on every surface that no matter how many times a day I try to clear a space up, something else usually ends up in it's place.
I have officially had enough. I have some big life goals that I'd like to achieve over the next few years and they certainly don't include having all of this "stuff" around. I am a self-admitted hoarder and this year I'm going to work on changing that.
So starting today, I have decided to begin doing the declutter challenge which I will be documenting on my blog, as well as YouTube (if I can figure it out - I'm not very tech savvy and I've somehow already gotten myself locked out of my account).
Here is the schedule that I have made for myself:
I am hoping that this challenge helps relieve some of the overwhelming stress I've been feeling lately and I can't wait to see what my house looks like when this is all done.
If you'd like to join in, it's not too late. White House Black Shutters Blog has all of the info you need. You can find it here.
